Working Album Title: How To Steal A Jet Fighter

Liam Howlett

So, Liam has a little neat interview with NME about the upcoming Download Festival. Which pretty much confirms a new track at Download to be dropped. However that could be AWOL or Dogbite. Also, the working album title is “How To Steal A Jet Fighter”.  Like the sound of the title? Let us know. Enjoy the interview!

Liam Howlett’s ready to go toe-to-toe with Sabbath

NME: Do you comfortable playing a metal festival like Download, Liam?

“Yeah man. Download, the fans, they’re not there to fuck about. People are into loud, uncompromising shit.”

Are you looking forward to seeing the likes of Metallica and Sabbath…?

“Nah. I won’t be staying. I won’t hang around.”

Will there be new songs?

“The idea is that we’ll turn up at Download playing some new shit. But playing festivals helps with the music. I’m best if you pull me offstage and throw me right in the studio, otherwise you’re not thinking about where the music is going to end up. I’m into the idea of sticking something out, just a track. Just something to remind people we’re still around. But nothing’s set in stone.”

How’s it sounding?

“We’re really excited about it. The last record was… kind of a party album, I guess. We were all happy to be back together again. But the best tunes on that album are the ones that have less of that. It’s definitely going heavier, darker. The title we’re working with is ‘How To Steal A Jet Fighter’. But that might change. Who knows?”

Happy Birthday Maxim Reality

Happy Birthday Maxim Reality

G’day fellow Fanboys! Finally back from vacation. Had a nice holiday break!

Didn’t check my email at all and ended up with just over 200 messages and also missed some Prodigy news. Last night I caught up with some news and have yet to contact everyone who has contacted us via Contact Form, Facebook and Twitter. I will do so when I can.

Anyhow, the boys are back on tour in about a months time. Quite a few new tour dates have been announced and you can checkout the gig list here. Seems to be Europe for now. Also most likely the boys will be unleashing new beats! Good times :)

Anyone who is heading out to the upcoming gigs, feel free to send us your review, videos, pictures, audio and so on.

Most important, our favourite MC turned 45 years old on March 21st!

Maxim, we know you’ll be reading this mate. So The Prodigy Fanboy community, MartinProdigy, ET and I wish you a happy birthday. Hope you had a great day mate!

I have no idea how you do it, you put your voice out at every gig and always deliver! We love your vibe! and appreciated it very much.

I will never forget the first words I heard you say live “Where the fuck is Melbourne!” Haha.

Skrillex

Skrillex

UPDATE: I can now confirm, that Skrillex is a special guest for Warriors Dance Festival. It was confirmed by The Prodigy via their newsletter.

Now don’t take our word for it. Also this is not confirmed by The Prodigy.

However, over at metalserbia.com. The current lineup for the 3rd Warriors Dance Festival is as follows:

The Prodigy, Skrillex, Jet, rhythm Nereda, Eyesburn, Lollobrigida, Petrol, Dreddup & Hype.

I personally have never heard about the other groups. Also, I think Skrillex is a highly possible act for Warriors Dance Festival.

3rd Milton Keynes Festival

3rd Milton Keynes Festival

If you head over to the Warriors Dance Festival website. You will find a graphic showing 3 boxes.

The first box has the Japanese flag, the 2nd has the English flag. The 3rd, is empty!

So this looks like a teaser, that there will be a 3rd Warriors Dance Festival.

Who will be the lucky country? I’m hoping for Australia!

Big Day Out: The Mechanics of Awesome

August 26th, 2011 No comments
Big Day Out

Big Day Out

Performances by the Prodigy and later Fatboy Slim convinced organisers that the Boiler Room needed more space. “There wouldn’t be a Boiler Room without the Prodigy,” recalls Ben Suthers, producer of The Boiler Room since 1999. Liam Howlett’s electronic punks played a monster set in the Gold Coast shed in 1996. It was so hot that frontman Keith Flint was put on a saline drip after the performance.

Until the late ‘90s, the scene of that Prodigy performance was housed in what has become the site storeroom. Now, the Boiler Room is the largest covered venue on site, and it attracts a regular crowd of some 12,000-15,000. When the Prodigy closed the 2009 BDO, an estimated 30,000 party-goers squeezed under the tent.

The Prodigy almost took BDO down a different path. In the late ‘90s, the BDO organisers decided it was entirely possible to take an act like the Prodigy and build a dance music festival around it. A bespoke dance-oriented fest Starbait was pencilled in for 1998, but the shows didn’t get off the ground. When the BDO returned from its 1998 hiatus, the Boiler Room had become a tent in all markets except Sydney.

Credit goes out to our Fanboy Facebook member Ben Bloxsome for the find.
