Liam Hates Pendulum Comparisons

Tagged: , ,

Well, it finally happened. Liam let it out on the comparisons people make between The Prodigy and Pendulum.

I just want to quickly post my thoughts on this:

There is no way that Pendulum and The Prodigy are the same. Pendulum just have this sound about them… it’s just all the same to me. Honestly if they did sound like The Prodigy, that would be a win for all Prodigy fans really. More music. However they are not and I also get upset when people compare Pendulum to The Prodigy. Also another thing. The Prodigy move with the times. I personally believe that The Prodigy are always ahead of their time. Also, their music never gets old. However with Pendulum. They seem to just release the same sound and it just seems all dated. Gets old quick. Having said that, they are a great band. Theres definitely a fan base for them. However in the following interview, Liam even says he feels like Pendulum have left their origins behind. Anyway, Liam hating Pendulum comparisons is the best news I’ve heard since that epic day when ‘Always Outnumbered Never Outgunned’ got a release date haha.

Liam Howlett – frontman of The Prodigy – is annoyed his band keep being compared to fellow electronic group Pendulum.

The Prodigy’s Liam Howlett doesn’t like his band being compared to Pendulum.

The mastermind of the electronic dance group – who will be supported by the ‘Propane Nightmares’ hitmakers at their upcoming gig at Milton Keynes Bowl in South-East England on July 24 – insists they are “f***ed off” that people keep making comparisons between the two acts.

He told NME magazine: “People go on about Pendulum being similar to us but they really aren’t. I think when you see us alongside each other it’s f***ing obvious that we’re totally different.

“And we’re as f***ed off with people going on about that as they are probably.”

Liam – who featured on the track ‘Immunize’ on Pendulum’s album ‘Immersion’ – explained while The Prodigy have managed to keep hold of their “rave roots”, Pendulum have left their origins behind.

He said: “It seems they’ve broken away from their drum ‘n’ bass roots, but are still clinging onto it a bit. Whereas we really kept hold of our roots in rave for quite a while, and something new has come out of it.

“We managed to keep most of our fans and just build.”
