THE PRODIGY FANBOY INTERVIEWS LIAM HOWLETT

Fanboy: You guys just wrapped up the Australian Tour. How was your experience down here, What were your highlights?

Liam: YO WE ALLWAYS COMIN TO AUSTRALIA , WE HAVE BEEN COMIN FOR YEARS AND THE PEOPLE ARE PARTY PEOPLE THAT ARE UP FOR A GOOD TIME ,, WE ALLWAYS SEEM TO HAVE TOO MANY DAYS OFF IN BETWEEN THE SHOWS THOU SO THIS TIME I SET UP A STUDIO IN HOTEL ROOM SO I COULD CARRY ON WORKING,, I THINK WE ALL LIKED THE SYDNEY AND MELBOURNE SHOWS THE BEST BUT THEY ALL ROCKED

Fanboy: How did the Azealia Banks collab on stage with Keith during Firestarter come about, what did you think of the outcome? I personally think it was massive and intense!

Liam: KEEF WENT TO HER SOLO SHOW AND HUNG OUT , WE KNEW SHE IS INTO OUR BAND AND SHE DOES A COVER VERSION OF FIRESTARTER IN HER SET SO WE JUST ASKED HER SPUR OF THE MOMENT IF SHE WANTED TO COME ONSTAGE , WE DONT USUALLY DO THINGS LIKE THAT BUT IT WAS SPONTANIOUS AND FUN

Fanboy: Australians got their first taste of Jetfighter & AWOL. Jetfighter sounds amazing! Really dig it. AWOL was later removed from the set list during the tour. Is this because the set list is becoming too long or have you decided to put the track away…?

Liam: I THINK THERE WERE SOME TECHNICAL PROBLEMS AT ONE GIG WITH THE LIGHTS SO WE TOOK IT OUT BECAUSE WE HAD TO CUT SET SHORT ,,, ITS ALSO STILL WORK IN PROGRESS SO I WILL WORK ON IT FURTHER BEFORE WE COMMIT TO IT BEING PART OF NEW RECORD , ALSO JETFIGHTER IS JUST IN ITS FIRST STAGE SO IM BACK IN STUDIO WORKING ON THAT TOO TO SEE IF IT MEETS THE LEVEL FOR ALBUM

Fanboy: At your milestone gig at Milton Keynes, no tracks from Always Outnumbered Never Outgunned were played. I personally love Spitfire and Girls live. Did these tracks not get played because you felt AONO wasn’t a band album?

Liam: NO NOT AT ALL , I THOUGHT WE PLAYED SPITFIRE , HA HA ITS ALLWAYS HARD TO KEEN EVERYBODY HAPPY AND WE CANT PLAY THEM ALL . LIKE THESE GIGS WE DECIDED TO ROCK UP HYPERSPEED AND PLAY THAT INSTEAD OF SPITFIRE , WHICH WE LUV

Fanboy: The Worlds On Fire CD / DVD is missing World’s On Fire, Poison, Mindfields, Diesel Power, No Good and Charly. What was the decision behind this?

Liam: NO REASON , I THINK MAYBE IT WAS TOO LONG , I CANT REMEMBER

Fanboy: Many of us hardcore fans still have hope for the following tracks to be released: Heat Wave, Dead Ken Beats, Wake Up Call Full Vocal version with Kool Keith, No Souvenirs, Memphis Bells AONO demo mix version, Gabba, Rock n Roll. Will any of these ever see the light of day? Say for example. As B-sides, downloads on the site, EP, Rarities album…

Liam: PARTS OF HEATWAVE ARE ACTUALLY ON A NEW SONG IM WRITING , I CANT SEE NO SOUV EVER COMING OUT , D K BEAT WILL DEFO BE A B-SIDE ON NEW MATERIAL , I MIGHT EMAIL YOU THE DEMO VERSION OF MEMPHIS BELLS IF I CAN DIG IT OUT ,,

Fanboy: Martin James mentioned another book, is this still going ahead and if so, when are we likely to see it?

Liam: DONT KNOW ABOUT THAT ,

Fanboy: Are core tracks of the new album written and can we hear those live any time soon?

Liam: MORE ‘HARDCORE’ THAN ‘CORE’ HA HA , YEAH WE PLAN TO PLAY THINGS AS THEY ARE WRITTEN NOW

Fanboy: How is the progress going on How To Steal A Jetfighter, has the theme for it gone into a combination of Jetfighter and Circus?

Liam: YOU HAVE BEEN LOOKING AT THE BACKDROPS ONSTAGE HAVNT YOU ! WE LIKE TO KEEP THINGS MOVING AND AS THE TRACKS GET FINISHED THE IMAGERY WILL BE DICTATED BY THAT,, THE TWISTED CIRCUS STUFF CAME FROM OUR END OF WORLD SHOWS AT BRIXTON IN DEC SO WE LIKED TO ROLL WITH THAT IN AUSTRALIA

Fanboy: There was talks of a isolated single maybe happening. Is this still the plan? Or maybe an EP coming soon?

Liam: I DO LIKE THE IDEA OF THIS AND WANT TO MAKE IT HAPPEN , KEEP UR EARS LOCKED
