G’day Fanboy Warriors!
Today, The Prodigy Fanboy turns 5 years old! It’s hard to believe that Fanboy has only been around for 5 years. I look back and say that I could have launched the site much earlier however it doesn’t really matter. It’s been a pretty neat road for Fanboy. In the begging I really had to work hard, find great news and present it in a professional manner. Many hours designing, many hours trying to spread the word and so on. I really wanted the site to look more like an official band site rather than a fan site. I remember my first ever News Post. I sound really cocky at the time:
“Hello Everyone! I am pleased to announce that The Prodigy Fanboy is now live. This site will become the No.1 Fan site of The Prodigy. I hope you all enjoy it as much as I do!” You can view the very first News Post here: The Prodigy Fanboy website launched!
I first started Fanboy because I love The Prodigy, creating websites is my hobby and hopefully one day meet the band. It started off slow and then quickly became a Monday to Friday gig. I seriously have put in so much of my time into this, I love it. I’ve always tried to make Fanboy the best website for the fans and make it the best community. Weather it was the design & layout of content, the great content posted, replying to everyone and being part of the community and so much more.
Along the way, Fanboy became a little too busy! Which is great! and we became a big group. A few old members from theprodigy.nl jumped on board among others and the work load has eased: View the Fanboy Staff here: Fanboy Staff / Contact / About. Our partnership with GL0WKiD, bringing his beats and mixes exclusively to Fanboy with The Prodigy Fanboy Podcasts by GL0WKiD. Andrea Prodigy Alfarano, searching and digging for news for us. And KurtHectic, our lastest staff member as Forum Moderator.
About a year ago, we launched The Prodigy Fanboy Forum! It was a very difficult task. As there are many forums already out n’ about. Not to mention Facebook and so on where most of our fans are active. However the forum has been nothing but fantastic! It grows everyday! And the community is so great! So positive and fun! At the moment we are sitting on just over 200 members! With over 3,200 posts! Incredible! And all respect goes out to all who have jumped on board, without you this is not possible. Thank you. In the last year, we decided to also launch The Prodigy Fanboy Video Blog. Which has also been a success! With my main man NEOREV writing all the music!
I think Fanboy has achieved it’s goal. It’s become a great website, a great community! From the website, to Facebook, to Twitter, to the forum. We’ve been lucky enough to give away prizes to the community. The 20 VIP tickets we gave away for Future Music Festival 2013 was by far the best one yet! Oh and the limited edition Future Music board signed by the band!
My life long dream of finally meeting the band did come true! It was the best time of my life during the Australian Future Music Tour 2013. Without Fanboy, it’s something I would not have achieved. It was a larger than life experience and it’s something I’ll never forget. I was lucky enough to get to say “Thanks” to the band for their music (it felt so good to say that to them). Like many of you, their music, their image, what they represent. Is our way of life!
The most important thing about Fanboy. Is you, the community! The Fans! Seriously, Fanboy could not be as great as it is without you. From everyone who jumps online to check the website, to everyone who takes the time to write to us, send in news, submit videos, send photographs, demos, to chat and so on.
The best thing personally, about Fanboy. It’s all the great friends I have made along the way. Friends who will always be apart of my life.
So, that’s 5 years done and many more to come! How To Steal A Jetfighter is on the horizon. It’s going to be the best Prodigy record yet! I know it!
