A 24-YEAR-OLD MAN from Angus was seriously injured after apparently leaping 20 feet from the balcony at the Caird Hall, Dundee, during a performance by dance band The Prodigy last night.

The man was seen to run and dive down to the bottom level where he hit the floor and collapsed.

First aid officers removed the man to treat him in the side corridor before paramedics arrived and rushed him to Ninewells Hospital.

Emergency services outside the hall confirmed the man had sustained serious injuries in the fall.

A shaken eyewitness said, “He just ran over and dived off from the back.

“He looked like he was off his head on something.

“He was just lying there and everybody made a circle around him.

“It was all dealt with really badly.

“They just left him lying there with everybody jumping around him.”

The eyewitness continued, “Then they carried him without using a stretcher and that is really bad after a fall.”

A police officer at the scene said, “He is certainly not in a good way.

“He has sustained serious injuries and has been taken to Ninewells Hospital to be treated.”

The rowdy gig carried on with most people unaware of the incident, and CID officers arrived to start an investigation as soon as the concert ended.

Several people were invited to give statements at Bell Street headquarters.

Caird Hall staff declined to comment last night.

Police later confirmed the man had been intubated and ventilated and was waiting for a CT scan.

A council spokesman confirmed police and the ambulance service were called to the Caird Hall following an incident.
