Australian Shows Announced

November 30th, 2009 2 comments

YES YES YES! The big guns at the top of the lineup for this year’s Future Music Festival were a drawcard for many, and with the festival close to selling out across the country, fans will be overjoyed with the news they’ll have another chance to catch them doing their thing at sideshows. There will be shows across Sydney, Melbourne as well as Newcastle, with next-gen rock/dance kids Does it Offend You Yeah? providing the able support for the veterans.

If there was ever any doubt that The Prodigy are the most elite live act performing in dance music today, these were shattered when they returned after a four-year break earlier this year to play the Boiler Room, with brute force to spare. Packing tunes from their new album Invaders Must Die, they dominated every show they played and showed they’ve got just as much energy as they did in the early 90s. Suffice to say, plenty were happy with the news they’d be coming back in early 2010.

The Prodigy play sideshows for Future Music Festival, presented by inthemix. Tickets on sale midday Dec 10th, check out the dates below:

Wed 3rd Mar – Hordern Pavilion, Sydney
Thu 4th Mar – Hisense Arena (GA Mode), Melbourne
Wed 10th Mar – Entertainment Centre, Newcastle

Helsinki Ice Hall 12th Nov. Review

November 24th, 2009 No comments

The Prodigy .nl Forum Member Mowgli has written a review for the Helsinki Ice Hall gig he went to. We have also included videos of the show in the Full Post.

Fucking brilliant show! First time ever seeing they guys and got totally blown away. First there was an alright DJ throwing some wobbly and big sounding dubstep, which sounded good on big speakers. Then the support, Enter Shikari, got on stage. Not so bad what I expected and they were ok to warm up the crowd, some pretty funny stuff they played. Then the DJ came back putting on some more boring clubby dance tracks (or they sounded boring because I was nearly exploding because of the excitement!). Finally the boys came on stage! Ice Hall is not too big venue, and even though I had seated tickets, they were playing the opposite way I was sitting, so I could see the whole show straight from my place and rave it up at the same time. The guards wouldn’t let me on the dancefloor, but I was happy with my spot eventually. There was room to dance in the sitting places. Set opened with an explode: World’s on Fire. The heat, the energy, the BASS! Followed by Breathe, which is not one of my most favourite tracks, but sounded great live and the dubstep addition finished the tune perfectly. They played the normal set of IMD Tour so no suprises this time. Still I was happy because they didn’t play any bad tracks. Keith did an excellent job on his own tracks, but seemed like jumping around the stage doing not much all the other time. Maxim was so full of energy and got the place hyped up all the time, from start to finish. There were some fools just standing in the field but fuck ‘em! Finnish crowd responded with a roar to every tune and the roof of the venue almost blew up. When there was encore time, I got scared for a minute that they were done, but then everyone made a enormous noise and they got back on stage to play three more tunes. The set was finished with Their Law. Highlights were probably Poison with the Jaws fill freestyle and…well everything was too good to be true. Only bad thing about the gig was that it’s now over! I’m only sixteen years old so hopefully they will come soon again and I’ll see them many many times in my lifetime. I love you Liam, Keef and Maxim! You gave me a night I’ll never forget.
