MTV’s Greatest Superstar competition

Over at the prodigy.nl, they have found a competition that is on right now.

The MTV is looking for the Greatest Superstar act 1981. Heres the thing, The Prodigy are on the list! So lets all vote for them. In order to do so, you will have to register to the site. It only take 5 minutes. I’ve signed up and voted! Here’s what MTV had to say:

1981: The year that saw the demise of Punk, the birth of New Romanticism, the rise of the CD, the death of Bob Marley, and John Lennon’s message for “the world to live as one” top the charts world-wide with the posthumously-released classic, Imagine.

It was also the year a new musical revolution rocked the planet – THE LAUNCH OF MTV.

From the moment Buggles’ Video Killed the Radio Star ushered in the world’s first dedicated music channel, nothing would be the same again.

New musical superstars such as Madonna and Def Leppard were introduced and MTV would go on to single-handedly help create and break entire movements like 80s hair metal, hip-hop, grunge, nu-metal and Britpop to name but a few.

But who’s been the biggest act to find global fame, chart success and fan worship since that very launch in ’81?  We’re asking you to vote for your Greatest Superstar.

As our way of saying thanks for voting, we’re giving you the chance to win a state of the art ipod speaker system the ‘Valve 80’ by Logic3.

Hi Everyone.

The Poll has ended for "What is your Favorite Album" and the results are in. You have voted that The Prodigy’s latest album Invaders Must Die is your Favorite Album! I personally still stick Music for the Jilted Generation, it’s just so raw and real. Sucks to see Always Outnumbered Never Outgunned in last place as I really like that album aswell. Oh well, one of them was going to be last…

Here are the Results:

  • 33% – Invaders Must Die
  • 29% – Music for the Jilted Generation
  • 16% – Fat of the Land
  • 12% – Experience
  • 10% – Always Outnumbered Never Outgunned
